My roles with the state involve creating data visualizations, interactive tables, dashboards, and maps that track the progression COVID-19 in the state of Alaska, and then relays that information to the general public. I also create and maintain automated data processing workflows that process large datasets of COVID-19 information for the State of Alaska to ensure that all visualizations, maps, tables, and tools built under my supervision are reliably updated quickly and correctly.

Working as an intern for Dr. Alida Cantor, I collected and analyzed data using online sources and python, as well as created maps for research pertaining to the cultural and environmental impact of hay alfalfa crop production in regions of central and southern California. This research involves using ArcMap 10.6.1 and QGIS to conduct GIS analysis on alfalfa crops in California during droughts in between 2011 – 2017. The final result of the analysis was a series of maps that were then used as primary results for a paper that was published in July, 2022.

Working as an intern for Dr. Alida Cantor, I collected and analyzed data using online sources and python, as well as created maps with QGIS for research pertaining to the cultural and environmental impact of sugar cane crop production on local water systems within Maui, Hawaii. This research involved analyzing how sugar cane crop irrigation ditches that are dug across Maui's higher moisture zones might affect the natural flow of water down from the two prominent volcanoes on the island to the ocean, which would in turn also affect the traditional Hawaiian Ahupua'a resource zones that make up the entire island. The maps created were used in the final paper and were published in Jul, 2021.
