Bruno Koninckx

Working as a freelance/part-time project manager on digital innovation projects. Currently working on an XR training project for a large governmental organization.

At the CIB faculty (Creative and Innovative Business), research center at Thomas More University College (Mechelen), we conduct research on innovation in media, communication & tourism. As a researcher, I have worked on different research projects: the IWT research project CityInMyPocket (development of a tourist city guide) and the development of a bike tour with GPS. From October 2006 until September 2008, I worked part-time as a trendwatcher for the V-ict-OR E-government knowledge center. From January 2008 until January 2010, I worked on the VEP (Virtual European Parliament) project, an EU funded research project on e-participation. From January 2010 until the end of 2011, I worked on the IWT-TIS project 3xi, together with V-ict-OR. From October 2010 until September 2013, I was project leader of the project 'Van e-reader tot e-reading', which aimed to help publishers with digital/mobile publishing on tablets and other devices. As of October 2014, I was project leader of the two-year Cornet research program 'Towards a sustainable Mobile Tourism Guide.' See www.360zone.be As of October 2018, I was project leader of the research project Immersive Training, which focuses on the use of technologies like VR, AR, 360° video or MR for training purposes (www.immersivetrainingen.be ). As of October 2020, I am project leader of the research project eXtend - immersive technologies for broadcasters. I also work on the Vlaio project Virtual Worlds, which is helping organizations with online meetings and events.

DigitArte is the company through which I conduct my freelance activities. In recent years, it has mainly involved innovative digital projects. Over the years, I have worked as a journalist for newspapers (Het Nieuwsblad, De Tijd, De Standaard), numerous magazines (Weekend Knack, Focus, Business ICT, Data News, HR Magazine, Wintersport Gids,...), radio (Studio Brussel, Radio 1) and TV (Canal+, Kanaal Z). Currently, I am the publisher - editor-in-chief of Outdoorfan.be. For the past 20 years, I have also given numerous training sessions and courses on digital media in a broad sense for, among others, Thomas More, Multimedi, Kluwer Opleidingen, Elsevier, HRM Net, and Tijd Academie.
