Engineer & Designer with a craft background (toolmaker for plastics/metal technology) and a degree in Product/Industrial Design (University of Applied Sciences Aachen). After approx. 12 years in agencies, self-employed since 2025/2026 with my own studio borisnils-design. I combine engineering, design, and technology – from the initial concept to the production-ready component.

Methodology

I am a generalist by conviction: The more complex a problem, the more valuable someone who thinks about engineering, design, and technology in a unified way – without loss at the interfaces between specialists. I work closely with manufacturing partners and accompany projects from idea to production.

I also have the option to work directly with a production partner. This offers the advantage that I can provide design, engineering, and manufacturing from a single source – from the initial idea to the ready-to-ship product directly at my company's doorstep. Delivery times, prices, and quantities are coordinated directly with the production partner and flow directly into the order. This creates a lean, transparent structure: Instead of commissioning and coordinating a designer, engineer, and manufacturer separately, everything comes from a single source with me – faster, simpler, and more economical.
