Benjamin Gonçalves-Martins

The past years have seen me wear out the benches of a faculty that nourished my little mind with photographic and cinematographic stories by tracing some necessary aesthetic paths. The first sketches of a wild love between the lens and my directing eye are born in the developing bath of the photo lab.

With a Master's degree in hand, my first professional achievements emerge from my little photographer hands.

The bridge between photo and video operates on the short film field, a powerful pretext for group work, inviting me to discover the Adobe suite at a time when magnetic tapes were still being acquired before editing in 720/576.

A few amateur festivals and awards later, it is by accompanying my peers that we set up an association specializing in audiovisual creation, which will later become a production company.

From tutorials to internships, developing in parallel a technical background fueled by meetings and masterclasses, I then venture into training: And you never learn better than by transmitting your passion.

Free time is rare, but what remains is allocated to perfecting acquired techniques and putting into practice new skills in lighting, optics or dynamic framing (gimbal, mechanical, assisted machinery...), in situations of complete autonomy as at the position of director of photography, on commissioned projects as on artistic productions.

From the stammerings of my young years to advertising shoots at the head of an experienced team, I have tried to legitimize my place in 15 years through solid training and knowledge, both practical and theoretical.

Now, this versatility at all stages of image production, I exploit it every day by moving from one project to another and continuing to learn.

Not a day will go by without me holding a camera.
