About Beatrice

A data architect and cloud engineer with over a decade designing, building and delivering fit-for-purpose data
products that succinctly solve the business problem — nothing speculative, nothing over-engineered.

Created, designed and delivered a rich tapestry of data solutions across Retail, Banking, Travel and Digital
Advertising — equally at home as the sole architect and engineer on a greenfield SaaS platform as inside a global
organisation leading distributed sub-teams. End-to-end ownership is the constant: from cloud foundation through
data modelling for warehouse, marts and reporting, ETL/ELT and APIs, to data governance and privacy at
enterprise scale.

A pragmatic problem solver and troubleshooter at scale, making decisive choices across data, architecture,
security and governance — calibrated to the customers, the data and the volumes involved, and the legal
jurisdictions in play. Cloud-native by default on AWS and GCP, with a versatile and modern tech stack and
Terraform IaC as the operating model. Built on the elegance of simplicity, clarity of purpose, and expertise applied
exactly where it counts.

Experience

  • Crossovercomms
    Solution Architect / Cloud Engineer
    December 2025 - Today (8 months)
    • • Designed the relational core in Aurora PostgreSQL — row-level security and session-scoped tenancy for hard multi-tenant isolation, SCD2 audit history, partitioned performance facts, and stored-procedure write paths keeping business rules in the database.
    • • Built the full AWS landing zone in Terraform with a defence-in-depth posture (private-subnet-only, RDS IAM auth, KMS-CMK encryption, GitHub Actions CI/CD via OIDC) and a Prefect-orchestrated ETL fabric on ECS Fargate with idempotent ingestion, partitioned upserts and Flyway-versioned migrations.
    • • Delivered the API surface (Python 3.12 Lambda behind API Gateway with Cognito JWT authorisation) and an owned React/TypeScript SPA hosted on private S3 + CloudFront + WAF, deployed via OIDC — replacing a third-party low-code front-end with a fully owned stack. 3.12, PostgreSQL
  • Direct Ferries
    Data Architect
    July 2024 - October 2025 (1 year and 3 months)
Direct Ferries is a global ferry-ticket aggregator with partners across multiple markets, time zones and currencies; rapid international growth created the need to re-architect the data platform for scale.
    • • Led requirements gathering across analytics, data science and finance, and audited the existing estate — sources, volumes, integration points and downstream consumers.
    • • Proposed three target architectures with cost projections and migration implications, and led the architectural decision through to sign-off.
    • • Implemented the chosen target on AWS (Terraform-managed): MWAA-orchestrated pipelines into S3, Glue Catalog and Redshift, with the migration plan and skeleton ETL framework in place for the first source migrations. Tech stack: AWS, Terraform, MWAA, Python 3.11, Athena, Glue, Redshift, Secrets Manager.
  • Dunnhumby
    Data Governance Consultant
    July 2022 - May 2024 (1 year and 10 months)
Dunnhumby is a global retail data-science company monetising anonymised shopping data through products serving retailers and CPG brands, operating on every continent.
    • • Architected and stood up the centralised Data Governance function supporting Privacy Compliance Operations, including vendor selection and procurement of the Securiti SaaS platform (discovery, demos, and weighted requirement scoring across Collibra, TrustArc, BigID, Securiti).
    • • Authored the global requirements specification for the corporate Data Governance function and translated Privacy Operations into Securiti — User Access Policies, PIA/TIA approval flows, and GDPR/CCPA legal framework implementations.
    • • Produced standardised data maps within Securiti modelled on the Dunnhumby data-science product architectures, designed for reuse on each new client onboarding.
    • • Wrote a JavaScript automation suite against the Securiti API to mass-initialise client artefacts and accelerate per-client implementations.
    • • Co-delivered the global ROPA report collection (GDPR Article 30) — spanning every dh client and every corporate function across the business (HR, Finance, Marketing, Legal).
