Bas Dekker

I am a 43-year-old Dutch IT professional with a 20-year career, based in France since 2013. I have gone through almost all stages of an IT career: developer, analyst, project manager, team leader, and CIO.

I specialized in the Arts and Culture sector after a career in IT services and online publishing.

My greatest achievements in paid employment include the complete IT overhaul for ilse media (the largest internet portal and online publisher in the Netherlands) from 2000 to 2003, and for the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam from 2004 to 2007, managing 20 simultaneous projects (infrastructure, workflows, e-commerce, ticketing, etc.).

As an independent consultant from 2007 to 2014, I gained extensive experience in rapid and efficient implementation of strategic projects and developments in previously unknown sectors.

My specialties are writing IT strategic plans, restructuring, task automation, and business process optimization. I have developed a dedicated IT tool for information representation and analysis that I gladly use in my assignments (see digifuga.nl/gromit and digifuga.nl/syrup).

I am familiar with SMEs as well as large industrial environments. This polymorphic combination of roles and operational scales allows for easy adaptation to all environments and adaptability of my skills to both the project as a whole and its stages.

My thinking on project management is informed by a high level of abstraction in conceptualization, as well as the clinic of sound daily practice, which takes into account the specificities of all stakeholders.
