About Aurélien

An engineer by training, specializing in embedded systems and primarily microcontroller development. I have participated in the development of numerous products in various sectors such as automotive, industrial machinery, and most recently IoT. This has allowed me, since the beginning of my career in 2015, to gain expertise in both modern C and C++ development, as well as in functional safety (TUV Professional certification), Machine Learning, and cybersecurity.

For several years, I have also been responsible for writing technical specifications, task planning, and software architecture to improve the efficiency of a development team.

Experience

  • Leanvia
    Software Development Manager
    July 2022 - May 2025 (2 years and 10 months)
    Leanvia is a startup based in Saint-Malo whose mission is to bring modern technologies to used vehicles. Two projects were carried out during this period: first, the development of a robotic gearbox for vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox (2022), then that of a dematerialized key on smartphone called Keazy (2023-2025). As the software development manager and an experienced embedded systems R&D engineer, I contributed to structuring the company by participating in recruitment, selecting service providers and tools, and planning software and electronic tasks. My role was central to product definition, architecture, and development.
    On the Keazy project:

    - Managed a team of 4 embedded systems and mobile development engineers, as well as interns;
    - Defined the product with the Product Owner, architecture, and estimations;
    - Embedded software development in C++20 on Nordic nRF52 target. Technical environment: Zephyr SDK, Gitlab, CMake;
    - Worked on a cyber architecture with an expert firm based in Rennes;
    - Trained and deployed a Machine Learning model with Tensorflow Lite for Microcontrollers, supervised by an external expert;
    - Product launched in production, deployed in ~50 vehicles, and applications available on Android and iOS phones.

    For the robotic gearbox: Safety analyses (HAZOP, HARA) and creation of a Safety system architecture before the project was abandoned. First prototype tested in a vehicle.

  • Elephant technologies
    Software Development Consultant Engineer
    February 2021 - June 2022 (1 year and 4 months)
    My mission involved developing a new communication screwdriving tool with already produced controllers, by rethinking the software architecture.

    - C++17 development on STM32 platform with FreeRTOS;
    - Configuration on CMake, use of Gitlab as version control and continuous integration tool;
    - Development of DevOps tools in Python, particularly to facilitate migration from SVN to Git;
    - Learning about motor control within a team of experts in the field.

  • Faurecia Clarion Electronics
    Technical Lead & Automotive Functional Safety Engineer
    AUTOMOBILE
    January 2019 - January 2021 (2 years)
    The client McLaren Automotive had selected Faurecia to develop an infotainment system and the driver control display located behind the steering wheel. The latter being responsible for notifying the driver of critical events, requirements were classified with an ASIL criticality level and subjected to the ISO26262 automotive functional safety standard. My role on this project was:

    - Definition of the Safety architecture and C software development of functional safety mechanisms on Renesas RH850 target;
    - Preparation of cross-functional meetings with System and Electronics teams. Configuration of AUTOSAR OS and Watchdog components to meet functional safety requirements;
    - Promotion as Technical Lead, and technical management of a team of two developers: estimations, sprint preparation, progress updates.
