The product consists of two subsystems: a Linux embedded subsystem running on hardware designed by the end customer; and a set of two Windows and Linux industrial PCs. Part of these subsystems is on 32-bit hardware.

The project involves the analysis and implementation of the needs of these two subsystems as well as all communications between them, within the framework of the year 2038 bug problem.

The analysis included a review of all external and internal issues, documented or not, used by one of the subsystems, namely: Linux version, file systems, archive formats, network protocols, application code.

A prerequisite for implementation was the setup of a Buildroot environment for the embedded subsystem, previously handled differently.

The implementation primarily involved upgrading Buildroot to generate a Linux kernel supporting the year 2038 bug, taking into account compilation prerequisites.

The final step was the acceptance testing of the generated environments, both without and with the application.

Everything is documented in the client's format for optimal knowledge transfer, as the problem also exists in other products.
