About Arnaud-François

Experienced Architect and Project Manager, I have completed over 100 missions in application and technical architecture, DevOps, and cloud. My preferred missions: Automation of business and work (technical and organizational), architecture of applications and information systems, DevOps on Google Cloud Engine/GKE and cloud (IaaS and PaaS).
I am experienced in managing development and integration projects, in test-driven agile.

I believe that the information system of 2030 will be composed of SaaS, AIaaS, RPA, and Low Code offerings. My favorite technologies in this area: UiPath, Appian, Bubble, Kylo, Owi, Google AI, Azure AI, Zapier, RunMyProcess, Kissflow... (Certified UiPath, TOGAF)

I enjoy coding (essentially Java, JS, and Python) and hands-on projects. I am known as a technical manager who trains young people in technical and human aspects. I have led various sessions on cloud computing at Centrale Paris and Valtech.

Some clients and missions completed:
IS and application architecture missions: Overhaul of Essilor's sales administration ERP, overhaul of Gefco's operational IS, creation of SGCIB's IaaS platform, Colissimo parcel tracking IS architecture...
Architecture and DevOps practices: Texa, SGCIB, Orange, Fortis bank, ADEO...
Architecture audits: Nexter, Selectour, Cabestan, TF1...

I am currently developing a vision and the necessary expertise for leading projects of total enterprise robotization (averatio.com). @averatio

Experience

  • EDELIA (EDF)
    Selection of an MQTT Broker
    ENERGY AND UTILITIES
    June 2016 - August 2016 (3 months)
    CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES
EDF is developing numerous IoT services and needed to define the telecommunication platform for device connections. MQTT was previously chosen as the communication protocol.

    WORK PERFORMED
Researched all MQTT brokers for evaluation: VerneMQ, Moquitto, AWS IoT, RabbitMQ, HiveMQ, JoramMQ, Xively. Facilitated workshops to define IoT use cases involving the broker: installation, initial setup, disaster recovery...
Specified loads (scenarios to support), quality of service, performance, reliability.
Developed the analysis grid. Selected 3 brokers for testing.
Wrote test cases and converted them into test plans. Set up test platforms in AWS. Created load test scenarios using a specific injection tool. Conducted tests with another consultant. Wrote test results and provided a recommendation.
    Duration: 3 months

  • ESSILOR
Complete Overhaul of the Sales Administration IS
    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
    December 2008 - October 2010 (1 year and 10 months)
    CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES
Essilor had a legacy sales administration system (order taking, product configuration, technical calculations, factory routing) that struggled to adapt to new products. The objective was to define the application and technical architecture for the sales administration system, following a previously defined functional architecture.

    WORK PERFORMED
This 2-year mission included an architecture scoping phase followed by implementation. I led and produced deliverables in both phases with a team of consultants.

    Architecture Scoping
Situation analysis: Conducted workshops to understand the business and the strategy the target system needed to support. Facilitated "Business & Strategy" workshops with marketing, operations, call center agents, product managers, technical architects, legacy system managers, production, and other functional domain managers. Consolidated findings into a status report. Explored essential target architecture patterns: multilingual, product independence, multi-subsidiary, multi-factory...
Facilitated workshops to challenge ideas with stakeholders. Designed a phased migration plan from the current state to the target state with actionable production steps. Detailed technical solutions and technologies to implement (.NET, JRules...). Created first-level architecture views to directly initiate agile development at the end of the mission. Consolidated the report and presented it to management. Received approval to proceed with development and the migration plan.
    Duration: 3 months.

    Agile System Development
Set up the agile development team with 1 PO, 1 SM, 1 tech lead, and 6 developers. I ensured the smooth operation of the setup and monitored the technical directions defined during scoping. Worked on the physical database model, the overall software architecture with the tech lead, and the software industrialization principles to implement (tools, agile processes with the SM), monitored code quality. Led sprint review presentations. The system is fully operational in Europe.
    Duration: 24 months.

    In parallel with this mission,
I carried out numerous architecture and technology missions at Essilor: Publishing and printing architecture, EDI architecture, testing strategy, calculator audit, database performance audit.

    SEAS Architecture Diagnosis
    ENERGY AND UTILITIES
    January 2016 - May 2016 (4 months)
    CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVES
The European SEAS project, dedicated to energy management, aims to improve producer/distributor interaction. The project management wanted an opinion on the architecture of the system under development. The objective was to provide an overall assessment and recommendations for improvement.
    Work Performed
The subject concerns the use of the Semantic Web to enable energy production and distribution entities to interact more effectively automatically.
Studied the application and technical architecture documentation produced by the project. Identified Semantic Web usage patterns for this type of application. Organized and facilitated workshops for clarification and understanding of challenges and difficulties encountered. Discussed difficulties and architecture patterns with stakeholders. Identified alternative technologies and their impact on the architecture (what to centralize, what to place in equipment and production centers...). Wrote the diagnosis and recommendation report. Presented to project management.
