Well. My parents chose a name for my love and talent. It is rumored that I already clutched a pen at birth and screamed for paper...
But the career counselor talked me out of applying to journalism school.
I took a different turn.
Some stations of my heroine's journey; see projects. Seems aimless? Nope.
The common thread is the drive to make the world a place where people live well through my work; a pinch of joy, the genuine and the original.
In sum, I learned many things that make me a better copywriter:
- My studies explained people and their contexts to me (Hello target audience);
- artist management taught me to unite different interests and showed me the world of promotion, marketing, and branding;
- I proved that I can handle structure & analysis without losing sight of the big picture in controlling & project work.
I never let go of my love, writing. Biographies for musicians, press releases, project reports, poetry, etc.
I have:
- held numerous workshops (creative writing & spoken word);
- written 1 youth theater play and devised amateur plays;
- developed 1 anthology (topic: anti-racism), etc.
Writing style/voice? Storytelling? The tricks of the trade? I can do that.
In recent years, I have furthered my education in copywriting (+ online and content marketing, sales psychology) - and:
I think times have changed. Or?
Crude performance marketing with "Imagine" platitudes is a thing of the past - today, a holistic view is needed: target group analysis, brand awareness, purpose, and personality.
This is especially true for sustainable offers that are authentic but don't stand out amidst all the waffle.
