I was a customer service advisor. Headset on, smile in my voice even at 8 a.m. I was pretty good, honestly — I knew how to calm down angry customers, find the right words, and keep my cool even on a rainy Monday.
But between us, I sometimes dreamed of silence. Not because I hated my job, no — just because I wanted to try something else, to see what I was worth without a ready-made script to recite.

And one day, without much drama, I realized that my transcription assignments were earning me almost as much as my customer service salary. So I took the leap. Not out of escape, not out of weariness — just out of a desire to explore this new profession fully.
Today, I no longer have a headset clamped over my ears listening to customer complaints, but I still have my earphones — to listen, transform, and give meaning to hours and hours of audio. And honestly? I have no regrets.
