In order to streamline its organisation, HSBC Bank launched in 2021 the
Future of the Frontline program, a worldwide project aiming at freeing-up its Global Banking Frontline capacity. I supported the Bank
on the Frontline Re-engineering workstream, which is focusing on the
assessment and delivery of process re-engineering opportunities.
Responsibilities: Identify and implement changes to processes,
procedures and policies through re-engineering and / or automation
Scope:
Identify and deliver quick win initiatives that can be delivered in a c. 6
month timeframe to the GBM frontline across the following three levers:
1. Tactical process simplification and / or automation
2. Changes in policy and procedures
3. Delivery of information and insights through strategic platforms
Outputs:
• Deliver quick win simplification and automation initiatives across key
areas of the business
• Identify changes to policies and procedures, including changes to
Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and Desk Instruction Manual
(DIMs)
• Accomplish a scale of automation across robotics, process
optimisation and API delivery.

Within the Corporate Banking division of a French bank, the Trade &
Treasury Solutions Department, an entity with a worldwide geographical
coverage - assists its European clients in advising and carrying out their
operations in the areas of Trade Finance, Supply Chain Finance and the
digitalization of their exchanges. In order to improve its understanding
its client’s portfolio needs, the Trade & Treasury Solutions Department
commissioned a study to know the financial and technical solutions used
by 100 major European companies in the field of Supply Chain Finance.
This study was conducted in 3 steps:
1. Designing a survey in cooperation with the client's Trade Finance
team
• Understanding corporate clients expectations and current usage of
supply chain financing products (usage of receivables and/or
payables discounting solutions, forms of financing, existing Supply
Chain solutions programs, interest in working on multi bank
platforms, interest to work on ESG/Green Trade Finance KPI linked
supply chain financing solutions, etc..)
• Learn client priorities when using working capital optimization
solutions : financing sales, securing debtor’s payment risk, cash
generation, balance sheet management
• Learn client expectations from banks to develop working capital
optimization solutions and get them ranked by priority order
2. Collecting and analyzing survey’s results
• Producing a detailed analysis of each client situation and
expectations
• Providing a global overview of the surveyed portfolio
3. Making recommendations in line with the client’s group strategy
• Defining the reachable market with current set up: priority
clients/industries and products taking into account the client’s
organization
• Considering possible development options with respect to corporate
client’s feedbacks
