One year after the founding of Ferratum Bank (Malta), I started as lead developer for a new project. Shortly thereafter, the bank went public, and I was appointed product owner. In this role, I liaised with all departments within the bank, from legal to finance and marketing to support. My product was an online payment system offering post-purchase payments, comparable to Klarna and Afterpay.

After the bank launched a new European mobile banking application, investment in other products slowed down. I then spent some time in the project team for the mobile application. When I was asked to relocate for the third time in a short period, I decided to return to freelancing.

During my tenure at Ferratum, I worked with products in consumer finance, credit cards (with Carta), mobile banking, online stores, and e-commerce. Our partners included Shopify, Prestashop, and Magento. Prestashop was our primary partner.

In 2007, I conceived the idea to develop a payment system for the Dutch market. Within a year of its development, I partially sold the system to an investor. In 2012, the company was fully acquired by the investor. The payment system still exists today and operates under the names Card Gate and Curo Payments.

At Card Gate, Magento was a significant partner. As the only Dutch payment system, Card Gate was part of the 'Magento Go' project, a software-as-a-service similar to how Shopify operates today. Additionally, I developed the initial modules to connect Magento with Card Gate. I worked with both the Community Edition and the Enterprise edition.
