- SAFT (TOTAL ENERGIES)Data Analytics EngineerENERGY AND UTILITIESApril 2025 - Today (1 year and 2 months)Levallois-Perret, FranceThe company faced a drift in its Data ecosystem: the proliferation of unaligned analytical projects and a decline in data quality were impacting decision-making and increasing the workload for BI teams. Targeted intervention was necessary to restore consistency, reliability, and performance to the analytical system.I was mandated to take the technical lead for Data delivery, correct the drifts in an unstable environment, and rebuild a reliable, industrialized, and scalable analytical architecture on Azure. To achieve this, I undertook the following actions:
- Redesign and modeling: Creation of complex data models on Databricks and Data Lake Gen2, ensuring consistency, performance, and reusability.
- Industrialization of flows: Design and maintenance of pipelines under Azure Data Factory and SQL Server, with a focus on monitoring, reliability, and performance.
- Self-service and visualization: Development of certified Power BI datasets and standardized dashboards to democratize data access.
- Delivery management: Coordination and supervision of the Data Engineer team, backlog management, and validation of deliverables according to DataOps and Agile standards.
Results:- Complete restoration of stability and reliability for critical flows.
- Accelerated delivery through improved governance and process industrialization.
- Creation of a robust analytical foundation, facilitating the production of reliable and scalable indicators.
- Transition to autonomous business operations through standardized and governed Power BI datasets.
Technical Environment:Azure (Data Factory, Databricks), SQL Server, Power BI, Git, DataOps, Agile Methodology (Scrum). - BAMS & AssociésData Analytics Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)CONSULTING AND AUDITSJanuary 2025 - April 2025 (3 months)Paris, FranceThe accounting firm was facing significant dispersion of its accounting and banking data across multiple systems. This fragmentation made financial analysis of clients slow, partial, and unreliable, limiting the firm's ability to fully act as a strategic advisory partner. It became essential to modernize the information system to preserve the firm's competitiveness and added value. In this context, I was tasked with designing and deploying a centralized decision-making solution, ensuring data reliability and providing a unified view of client performance. To achieve this goal, I:
- Implemented automated data integration via various accounting and banking APIs.
- Designed and developed data preparation and modeling processes in Python notebooks within a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse.
- Created and structured interactive Power BI reports for the analysis and visualization of key financial KPIs (FEC, cash flow, solvency, etc.).
- Developed a Python application connected to SharePoint for the automated sending of personalized reports to subscribed clients.
Results:- Significant reduction in analysis and reporting time.
- Improved data reliability and traceability, transforming accounting data into a true strategic asset.
- Adoption of a proactive posture by the firm, facilitating the identification of business opportunities and enhancing the added value provided to clients.
- Better anticipation of client needs and buy-in from internal teams for the new solution.
- Increased client trust through more responsive and transparent analyses.
Technical Environment:Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Notebooks, Dataflows), Python (pandas), PySpark, SQL, Power BI, Accounting APIs, SharePoint. - SAFT (TOTAL ENERGIES)Head of BI Governance and TransformationENERGY AND UTILITIESDecember 2022 - December 2024 (2 years)Levallois-Perret, FranceSaft's industrial, digital, and international hypergrowth put a strain on its fragmented and unscalable Data/BI model. In the absence of unified governance, reporting inconsistencies, loss of data reliability, and rising costs made the creation of a global and controlled BI architecture urgent.I was responsible for designing and managing global Power BI governance, while structuring analytical architectures and high-value data projects for the Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain departments. To achieve this, I undertook the following actions:
- Strategic management: Definition and deployment of Power BI governance (security, standard models, global training and support).
- Project management: Coordination of internal and external data teams, technical, financial, and human management of delivery.
- Scoping and design: Facilitation of business needs workshops and writing of functional and technical specifications.
- Development & architecture: Creation of Datawarehouses, Datalakes, and analytical Cubes on SQL Server and Azure; integration via ADF, Databricks, SSIS, and Polybase.
- Reporting & modeling: Development of semantic models and Power BI reports, and maintenance of IBM Cognos reporting for legacy environments.
- Agile methodology: Management of a Scrum team of Data/BI developers and tracking of project KPIs.
Results:- Implementation of global Power BI governance ensuring consistency and security.
- Standardization of data models and reduction of redundancies.
- Accelerated time-to-insight for business departments.
- Increased reliability and traceability of decision-making data.
- Skill development for over 20 internal teams through the dissemination of Power BI best practices.
Technical Environment:Power BI, Azure (ADF, Databricks), SQL Server, SSIS, Polybase, Oracle, IBM Cognos, Azure DevOps, Scrum Method.
