Onur Erler

As a lecturer in the Department of Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Kent University, I teach courses in digital arts, illustration, and design theory, with a strong focus on blending traditional artistic methods with modern digital tools. My role extends beyond lecturing: I design syllabi, mentor students, and lead creative workshops that prepare them for real-world professional environments. I emphasize hands-on learning through platforms such as Procreate and Adobe Creative Suite, helping students bridge the gap between conceptual creativity and industry-ready execution. This position has also allowed me to organize seminars, collaborate with guest artists, and contribute to shaping the curriculum for emerging digital illustration programs. Through my teaching, I aim not only to impart technical skills but also to inspire a new generation of designers to pursue innovation, originality, and professional excellence in the global creative industry.

I founded Babka Creative Workshop & Babka Art with the vision of merging art, design, and education under one roof. As Creative Director, I oversee all creative projects, ranging from branding and illustration to digital campaigns and art direction. I work closely with both international and local clients to develop impactful visual communication strategies, while also leading educational programs that introduce aspiring artists to digital illustration tools. The workshop has hosted online and in-person courses, exhibitions, and collaborative projects with established creatives. In addition to client work, Babka Art operates as a hub for artistic experimentation and the production of original artworks that have been exhibited in galleries. My leadership role involves balancing business strategy, creative excellence, and mentorship. This entrepreneurial journey has not only broadened my portfolio but has also strengthened my ability to innovate and inspire within the evolving landscape of design and digital art.

During this period, I worked independently as a creative director, graphic designer, and illustrator, collaborating with a wide range of clients from startups to established brands. My responsibilities included developing visual identities, designing campaigns, producing editorial illustrations, and managing the entire creative process from concept to execution. As a freelancer, I honed my ability to adapt quickly to diverse briefs and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. I also expanded my skillset by incorporating new digital tools, experimenting with illustration styles, and offering personalized design solutions. This freelance chapter was crucial in establishing my professional independence and strengthening my direct client communication skills. It provided me with valuable experience in self-management, project budgeting, and client negotiations while enhancing my creative versatility. The projects I led during this time not only enriched my portfolio but also laid the foundation for the entrepreneurial step I later took in founding Babka Creative Workshop.
