Markus Helmich

I am a mechanical engineer and worked at my previous employer, a manufacturer of hydropower plants, in various departments such as design, project management, development, assembly, and commissioning. I have been a freelancer since 2017. During my time as a designer/developer, I designed turbines and special machines. Most recently, I held the position of Technical Manager. Here I was responsible for supporting project managers, designers, and sales. We operated internationally and built power plants in countries such as Germany, Austria, France, Croatia, Chile, and Korea. I was also always on-site when it came to assembly and commissioning. Therefore, I always had close contact with the customer and their personnel.

As a designer, I was responsible for designing various mechanical components and assemblies, as well as entire machine sets. If a custom-made product was needed, I took care of the task. Since my diploma thesis, which involved developing a test machine for UL International Germany GmbH, the topic of design and product development has been a common thread throughout my career. As a technical manager / project manager, I was also responsible for the design and selection of components. Each system was custom-made, so it was about inquiring about and implementing all customer wishes and details. To ensure a consistent and smooth setup of the systems, good coordination with all trades and a clear definition of interfaces were also necessary.

In recent years, I have gained a lot of experience in other jobs and areas and have learned a lot. It was always important to work in a structured and innovative way, as well as according to standards and regulations.
