At Hoffmann-La Roche, as department head, I led and reorganized a team of four PhD scientists and 15 technicians in Basel, as well as a smaller team in California.
I introduced and supervised the implementation of in vivo models that enabled approximately 10 transitions of preclinical candidates to clinical stages or GLP toxicology entries in the CNS (Central Nervous System) pipeline over a three-year period.
My teams and I also developed translational models for late-stage compounds, resulting in three first-in-human (FIH) entries in two years. My work involved preclinical efficacy and toxicology studies in various animal species, from rodents to mini-pigs.
As a project manager, I turned around a project in the field of cognitive disorders by reorganizing the working group and defining achievable objectives aligned with the deadlines set by scientific management. This included writing monographs and chapters for investigator brochures.
In collaboration with the IT department, we developed an electronic laboratory notebook system to transition from paper-based to an electronic GLP-compliant system.
