Benjamin Chalus

I started my career on the shop floor, as a boilermaker-welder in heavy industry, shipbuilding, and aeronautics. This hands-on experience gave me a concrete understanding of operational constraints that few managers have had the opportunity to experience from the inside.

It is this foundation that allowed me to quickly move into support roles — purchasing, logistics, management control, supply chain — by immediately understanding the real stakes behind the figures and processes. Deploying a PIC on an industrial site in Spain for Aubert & Duval, analyzing the value chain of additive metal powder production, or building a purchasing policy: these are all missions that I have carried out with the advantage of knowing what is really happening upstream, on the shop floor.

Today, I extend this reflection through writing. After La Civilisation du Geste (2026), my next book, Métallurgie & Dépendance (to be published June/July 2026), deals with the strategic, economic, and environmental challenges of the French metallurgical sector.

It is this journey — from the shop floor to management, from management to economic reflection — that I bring to my courses.
