Alen in a few words

I am currently looking for new challenges in the area of cloud backend development focusing on performance, scalability and system stability. I’m experienced enough to completely manage the whole process from project planning, architectural design all the way to delivery. I specialize myself in large systems, from performance optimisation and system scaling to stability and AWS cost optimisation. With over 12 years of experience in different industries, I’m able to introduce myself to new projects in short time and bring immediate value. During the years I supported many companies to grow and change their tech culture, from both product development perspective to team agility in a scrum-based environment, even in critical situations when time-to-market is crucial. I’m open to share and document my knowledge, adopt to internal policies and support teams by leading them towards latest agile development methodologies. As I'm actively dealing with large cloud systems, both monolith and microservice architecture, my key philosophy is to keep it simple with modular, scalable and functional code.

Key soft-skills (Business skills):

- Fast adaptability
- Analytical mindset
- Good presentational skills
- Very communicative, on different levels
- Always calm and able to manage critical situations
- Able to delegate and orchestrate work within the team

Tech. Lead / Architekt

Currently leading a team of 20 engineers on multiple projects within one account/customer. The systems are cloud based (AWS) and designed for high throughput and low latency traffic, with a wide range of compute power requirements. My primary focus lies on architectural design and instance utilization, code reviews/optimization and development of more complex parts in order to support the teams.

During this period, my daily work consisted of pure coding and partially dealing with design pattern topics on different projects which usually required some or complete refactoring, or needed optimisations on code level. Most projects I've been working on were managed in an agile way (Scrum), with 2-3 week Sprints. Technology wise, I always used latest technologies, but tried to keep the stack lightweight and as simple as possible. Most projects consisted of legacy and new versions of the product, therefore feature implementations and/or maintenance was challenging but possible with new architectural patterns.

This would be my first steps in professional software development, working on an interesting project in the field of information and communications technology. As part of a mid size team of developers and testers, we created a Mobile traffic billing system for one of the largest telecom in the country at that time. The system was built on top of C/C++ with a lot of advanced and complex algorithms for fraud detection, misuse patterns, etc. Compared to today's high level Java layers, main challenges were performance and deep dives into memory allocation/troubleshooting.
